Vivid Sydney.

Every year the city of Sydney plays host to its biggest winter festival, encouraging thousands of people to flock to the city's CBD and surrounding areas in order to witness its beautiful landmarks transforming into various interactive creations of light. For the last three years I have attended Vivid and have been blown away by the result of hours of hard work and design that goes into creating this winter wonderland. However, this year I unfortunately didn't get a chance to participate in the walk along the harbour, instead opting for experiencing something different by attending Vivid at Taronga Zoo with a one of my best friends.

We caught the ferry over to the zoo and honestly Sydney is such a beautiful city when it is lit up. If you don't catch the ferry very often I highly recommend going into the city for a ride, it is so much fun to sit back and enjoy the view in a way that you hardly ever get to see if you never ride on the harbour.

One of my favourite parts of the festival is when animations get projected onto buildings. It brings all my childhood fantasies to life in ways I never could have imagined.

These two monkeys were my favourite aspect of the walk through the zoo. They reminded me of my best friend M and I because for the last six years we have just been through everything together and always have been and always will be by each others side through everything life throws at us, no matter what.

This little (big) guy was one of the few sculptures that moved so it looked like he was swimming through the air with his webbed feet!

I loved the detail and colours of the turtles. They looked as majestic as I imagine they are when they swim through the ocean.

The thing I loved about the Zoo walk compared to that along the water is that there was less of a crowd and it catered a lot more to families and the elderly. It flowed in one direction and the installations could be enjoyed at a much slower pace as there were less people. There was honestly no rushed feeling at all, which was such a nice change to previous years.

The crocodile was another one of my favourites, he was so mesmerising.

I thought it was great that the theme for the lights display on the Opera House was a tribute to the Indigenous people, past and present, of Australia and their incredible culture. I honestly believe that it is something that should be incorporated into the festival every year.

If you ever find yourself in Sydney around Vivid I highly reccomend making a night of it and organising a trip into the CBD with family or friends. There are plenty of water front restaurants, bars and take away food trucks to suit everyones needs and ensure that a good night is had all round.
One rule I live by is that there is no shame in playing the tourist while exploring your own city.

Inspirations.

I do not claim credit for any of these images.

St Jerome's Laneway Festival.

I had a pretty rough start to the year, both with personal and family issues, so I was quite relieved when Laneway finally rolled around. I was beyond keen to spend the day with two of my best friends, dancing, singing and drinking along to some of my favourite live acts. I had never been to a festival like this before so I honestly had no idea what to expect and was pleasantly surprised to see how diverse and amazing it was, not just with the acts or crowd but also the market stalls and the food on offer. It was actually one of the best festivals I have ever been to in my life.

I had gone out the night before with friends and had an incredibly late night so I put very minimal effort into my make up and outfit early the next morning due to being super exhausted, plus it was ridiculously hot so I knew that by the end of the night I would be a hot mess.

Sunglasses: Sportsgirl.
Dress: Paper Closet.
Singlet: Topshop.
Shorts: Oscar-St.
Boots: Roc.

They were giving out free bucket hats which was actually a god send as there was not much shade available and standing in the sun dancing all afternoon would have left me sunburnt from head to toe.

I had originally planned to save all the videos and photos of the day from my snapchat story however they didn't send properly and disappeared before the night was over. I don't know why I didn't just save them all after taking them. Anyway these are the ones I managed to save and keep from the day.

Hermitude were hands down the highlight of my day. I had wanted to see them for so long and they seriously did not disappoint in the slightest.

Flume was another act that absolutely blew my mind. He is so phenomenal and pulled the largest crowd. We had so much fun dancing and singing together and again he was one of the highlights of my day, it was such an amazing atmosphere.

I never particularly listened to Purity Ring as I never really liked them all that much but seeing them live was pretty cool and they are a pretty decent act. I still don't like them all that much but I appreciate their music more than I use to. The only reason I saw these guys live is because my best friend really likes them and he wasn't go to see them so I thought I would record a bit of it for him.

I ended up buying the cutest little halter top that is perfect for summer and just hanging out. They're hand made and super adorable, I can't for the life of me remember the name of the stall I got it from but when I find out I'll update this.
I also grabbed the best Valentines Day card I've ever seen in my life! It mixes my love for Aussie bogan culture, being a hopeless romantic and beer together in the cutest way. I love supporting local businesses as much as I can and as soon as I saw this gem I just had to have it.
If only I had someone to give it to hahaha.

I would love to go back to this day. Even though so much of my life was chaos this day was absolute perfection. I honestly suggest to anyone to just do things you wouldn't normally or haven't in the past because those days always end up being some of the best memories.
