Having a Ball - Part 2.

For the last three years I have wanted nothing more than to graduate uni and be able to go out into the world feeling free with no commitments. However, now that I am actually graduating I am finding it to be a bit of a bittersweet moment. I will of course not miss the constant study that has been plaguing me over the last five years but I will dearly miss seeing my friends regularly, partying on weeknights with no consequences and having random days off in the middle of the week. One thing that takes away a smidgen of this sadness was how absolutely amazing my Graduation Ball was and how hard primary education graduates can party!

Even though in this photo my hair and make up look quite good, I was so disappointed in the end result and completely regret going to a different salon than normal to have everything done. Not only did my hair drop as soon as I got to the ball (which has never happened before), the foundation they used on my face was too dark and orange in comparison to my skin tone, which is completely unacceptable for the money I paid for their services. I swear it was almost like the make up artist was trying to match my face to my hair colour and not the colour of the rest of my body. These results did have me pretty self conscious for most of the night and I didn't take as many photos as I wanted because for some reason I had convinced myself I looked awful and I was paranoid about what people would think. Plus I knew I didn't look my best which honestly really sucked as I had been looking forward to this night all year.

Hello my name is AJ and I am addicted to using snapchat filters.

My grad ball was held at The Lagoon Seafood Restaurant in Wollongong and it was absolutely stunning. I would highly recommend holding a function here, not only was the food beautiful, the view and the actual room looked absolutely beautiful as well.

It honestly took me weeks to find this dress and the moment I saw it I knew it was the one and I fell in love immediately, so much so I drove an hour between two stores to ensure I could get it in my size.

It feels like the night wasn't long enough! I feel like I barely got to speak to all the people I wanted let alone dance the night away. After the Ball we all made our way to one of the clubs in town and continued the party there for a while. I ended up getting a taxi home around 3am and crashed pretty quickly. I was surprised by how much the taxi cost me, I paid $50 for a 10 minute drive! I could not believe it.

When I woke up in the morning I had one of the worst hangovers I've had since high school. Nate woke me up and told me to get ready as we were going to go down the coast and I ended up falling asleep again until he called and said he was at my place. We ended up going to Kiama, getting lunch and spent the day exploring the cute shops along the main road and the rainy seaside.

All in all, it was such a great night and I am going to miss everyone so much. I wonder how long it will be until my next formal event...

Having a Ball - Part 1.

One of my favourite things about the final months of this year were the two Balls I attended for uni. For this post I will be focusing on the first Ball I attended, the Social Sciences Ball.

Before I graduated I studied at the University of Wollongong and within the last two years a Ball was established for those who were studying degrees under the umbrella of Social Science, this included those studying teaching. I attended the first Social Sciences Ball the previous year and had such a good time partying it up in such a relaxed atmosphere and intended to do the same this year with some of my favourite people. This year the Ball was only a couple of days after I had submitted my final assignment and the perfect time to treat myself to a night out and a fancy dinner with my boyfriend and friends.

I was staying at Nate's house in Penrith and found an amazing freelance make up artist who did my make up. If you are from the Penrith area I recommend using her, not only was she lovely but the final product was exactly what I was after. You can find her details below:

I absolutely loved the dress I was wearing! It was such a good find and hopefully something comes up so that I can wear it again! I honestly felt amazing that night.

"Stop making me take photos! We need to go!"

You can't really tell but the top of the dress had this beautiful lace detailing that was also along the bottom and the split of the dress. It added an extra bit of elegance to the design.

The Ball was held at City Beach Function Centre in Wollongong. It has such a beautiful view of the ocean at sunset which made for the perfect scenery for photos.

Maggie, one of the amazing friends I made at uni. Honestly this girl got me through it all.

Blurry Polaroids with my man.

Our amazing table that was constantly full of laughs. I had such a wonderful night dancing the night away and I honestly feel blessed to be able to attend events such as these with such amazing people.
